Portugal has accomplished 5 Grand Gold medals &#8211; the highest distinction of the competition. Douro was the most awarded wine region with 48 medals. Portugal achieved 140 gold medals and 130 silver medals. Italy was the most awarded country (645 medals), followed by Spain (630 medals), France (323 medals) and Portugal (275 medals). Nearly 200 international wine experts from 54 countries spent the four days critically judging almost 7,500 wines from regions all over the world.
