Portugal achieves a positive result with 693 awarded wines at the renowned Decanter World Wines Awards (DWWA), an international competition sponsored by the English magazine, Decanter.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards awarded 693 Portuguese wines. The wines Bual 1987, Cossart Gordon, from Madeira and Blog ’13, Tiago Caba\u00e7o, from Alentejo were awarded with the highest distinction of the competition, the “Platinum – Best in Show”. Portugal also totaled 8 Platinum medals, 32 Gold, 138 Silver and 287 Bronze medals. France was the nation with more \u201cplatinum \u2013 best in show\u201d medals (8). In Portugal, the most awarded wine region was Porto and Douro with 272 medals, followed by the Alentejo with 149 medals. Out of nearly 17,200 wines tasted were judged blind by 219 of the world\u2019s best palates, including 65 Masters of Wine and 20 Master Sommeliers, during one week at London\u2019s Tobacco Dock.
