The latest edition of the British magazine The World of Fine Wine published In search of Lost Vines, an article about Portuguese grape varieties.

According to Paul White, a range of human and natural factors over the past two centuries have caused a drastic decrease in the number of grape varieties and clones. In the article, the author discusses the implications in the reduction of grapes diversity for winemakers and wine lovers, while recreates the vine history considering the lasts researches and presents the project led by Portuguese researchers to preserve Portuguese grape varieties, some of them rare nowadays.
