The winemaker Luís Sottomayor was considered winemaker of the year 2012 at the International Wine Challenge, one of the most important international wine competitions.

Luís Sottomayor, chief Douro winemaker for Sogrape, is the winemaker of the year for the International Wine Challenge in the fortified wines category. “There are awards that have a special taste and this is one of them,” says Luís Sottomayor, noting that the distinction also helps the promotion of Portuguese wines, particularly Port wine. In the same competition, Luís Sottomayor and his winemaking team were also honored with another award: the Offley Late Bottled Vintage 2007 wine tasting, which received also a trophy.
